Week 2 Notes and Videos

Housetraining Progress:

On week two, we started to get a nice baseline progress with Padme.   I am writing this in the middle of Week 3 though, where her body must be changing rapidly.   We are back on a more frequent housetraining schedule with her on Week 3 (so far) than we were on Week 2.  Unfortunately, there is little we can do with biology except ride it out.

Advancing Previous Commands in Training:

Sit with Correction if needed Inside  and  Outside:

Inside sit repetitions (with correction if needed) have gotten better and Padme can do 3 sessions of 4 in a row reps (without verbal or collar corrections) within 5 minutes inside.  I use these to warm up before the stays in this video.

These outside in the yard sit reps  were hard because the leaves are falling and she is very into them.   I think we only got to 4 in a row sit reps (without needing verbal or collar corrections).  This is why different environments are needed to train in.  I was surprised this was so hard in the yard, where on the walks were easier.  You only learn these things through working the dog in different places.  Later on in the lured heeling, you will see those have improved in the yard.

Lured Heeling Step 2, Sits, and Loose Leash Walking Outside:

Step 2 of lured heeling just involves changing the food reward position to behind your back, and then quickly rewarding her at the place you want her when you stop (her shoulder by your legs).

Traditional Heeling and Auto Sits Inside with Padme (this is done without food reward, although at times I do combine the lured and traditional if a dog is having a hard time):
