Week 1 Phase One of House Training
The Goal of Week 1: Limit mistakes that can happen in the house by starting to build a schedule of times you dog needs to go out, and them putting them on a phone alarm.
Next: Try to stick to alarms and feeding schedule for going out, unless she has just trained OR has played hard with a friend. Then I bring her out a half hour into playing.
**Also note, I bring her out alone with me to pee on leash so she does not forget or lie down. This has seemed to work the best so far. I don't trust her to remember after she lies down outside.
Amount of accidents on Week 1: Friday September 6th 11:25am caught her BEFORE she pooped in the middle of training and got downstairs, (1) Monday Sept 9th peed in dog training room in the middle of training at 11:41am, (2) Sunday Sept 810:35am peed and pooped in mudroom when I was a little late getting to her, (3) Sunday Sept 8th peed and pooped in mudroom at 12:45 pm,
Note: She is more reliable when walked outside on a leash for her bathroom times. If she lies down, I think she forgets and then remembers at a later time when she is in the house. Also, you probably know, but she eats poop so we are right on it when it comes out.
Basic schedule outline on Week 1:
NOTE THIS CAN CHANGE AS SHE GROWS AND HAS GROWTH SPURTS. A PUPPY'S SCHEDULE IS MORE FREQUENT BECAUSE THEY ARE CHANGING AND GROWING, AND THAT CAUSES STUFF TO GO THROUGH THEM MORE FREQUENTLY. THE HOPE IS THAT SHE GETS USED TO A LESS FREQUENT SCHEDULE DURING WEEK 2 AND WEEK 3.
